Stormwater Management
An MS4/Stormwater Fee is a charge for Stormwater Management Services provided by the City of Hoschton to all developed residential and nonresidential properties in the city. The service fee can only be used for the provision of Stormwater Management Services to customers within the City in accordance with the City ordinances.
The City of Hoschton’s Storm Water Management Program was created in 2015 to comply with Phase II of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, part of the Federal Clean Water Act, that requires local governmental agencies to obtain a permit and monitor the storm water runoff in their jurisdictions.
The purpose of the program is to reduce water pollution caused by storm water runoff. Stopping pollution at its source is the most effective way to prevent harmful pollutants from being washed by storm water runoff into our storm drains, and ultimately, our rivers and creeks.
Our program consists of six elements:
- Public Education and Outreach
- Public Involvement/ Participation
- Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
- Construction Site Stormwater Runoff Control
- Post-Construction Stormwater Management in New Development and Redevelopment
- Pollution Prevention/ Good Housekeeping for Municipal Facilities
The Storm Water Management Plan (also known as the SWMP ‘swamp’ plan) is the comprehensive overseeing document for the City of Hoschton’s Storm Water Management Program.
